Jonathan Drew and Marvin Samel founded the Drew Estate in the early 1990s. They sold cigars, small cigars and even cigaretes originally at their own kiosks at Manhattan's Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. Their first brand was dubbed La Vieja Habana and was manufactured by a local company in Manhattan. The two were inspired by sudden increases in market demand for their products but were unsuccessful in sustaining their initial business. In late 1998 Jonathan Drew moved to Nicaragua for his cigarmaking passion to a greater extent. the Drew Estate's cigars became extremely cultish in their own right and largely unrecognized.
Drew Estates is a major premium cigar maker and the world the third-largest Nicaraguan cigar maker. They gained their initial popularity with their line of infused cigars called ACID, but they also offer unique cigar options such as Drew Estate Liga Privada T52, Drew Estate Liga Privada No. 9, Liga Privada Unico Series, and the rare H99. These cigars are highly regarded by Cigar Aficionado enthusiasts.
