AJ Fernandez initially launched New World cigars; a medium to full bodied blend put together by AJ Fernandez and father Ismael Fernandez. The result was a total success and probably the Best Seller Top 1 cigar after the Salotano's. The Nicaraguan Puro was blended using only the best filler tobaccos from Ometepe, Condega and Esteli; a binder from Jalapa and, as usual a hand selected wrapper of dark Nicaraguan Tobaccos. The New World made the 2014 Cigar of the Year No 1 by Cigar Journal.
Back after the launch of the New World Cigars, AJ and Father Ismael made a test run of the New World Connecticut and they presented this new blend to the cigar aficionado in a launch party at Cigar Inn, NY. Approximately a year after this, the New World Connecticut is finally available to all retailer worldwide.
I am personally not a fan of Connecticut wrappers due to the bitterness that you can find on this tobaccos some times. Not the case with any Connecticut wrapper cured and fermented by AJ Fernandez. This Connecticut cured AJ's style keep the smoothness of the Connecticut but cured all bitterness. The Connecticut version of the New World Cigars is a follow-up project from father-and-son team.
The Connecticut shade wrapper used for this New World new blend comes from United Estates which is grown under mesh netting to filter the sun's rays. New World Connecticut uses binder from San Andrés, Mexico, and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua and Brazil. The new cigar is being rolled at the new A.J. Fernandez factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
As the original New World the price point remains consistent at around $6.00 per cigar. A huge difference from the original New World is that the Connecticut version will not be box-pressed.
New World Connecticut is packed in 20 Count Cigar Boxes and is available in four sizes:
