All About The Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Illusione

The Illusione of Excalibur is a limited-edition cigar made by the cigar collaboration between Illusione Cigars and the Scandinavian Tobacco Group. It is sold under the name of Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Illusion. The Excalibur Illusion was released on July 4th, 2022, and only 4,960 boxes will be produced. Thus, it is a rare and hard-to-find cigar.

The new cigar is hand-made at Dion Biolito's Aganorsa Leaf factory (formally known as the TAPSA factory) in Nicaragua. The Illusione of Excalibur is made with all-Nicaraguan parts. This includes Nicaraguan fillers, wrappers, binders, and tobacco, creating a pure Nicaraguan cigar (puro).

The wrappers are Nicaraguan Corojo '99 from Jalapa. The binders are Nicaraguan Corojo 2012 from Jalapa. The filler is a blend of Criollo '98, Corojo '99, and Corojo 2006 grown in Esteli.

The Excalibur Illusione comes in one large size called No. 1. It is 7 1/4 inches by 54 ring gauge with a presidente shape. The Excalibur cigars are packaged in boxes of only ten cigars since they are limited edition cigars.

The profile of the Illusione of Excalibur is a medium-bodied to medium-plus profile. So, the cigar packs a ton of flavor while still being smooth and easy to enjoy. It is a mix of both Excalibur notes and those typically found in Illusione Cigars.

The result is hints of espresso, leather, and Christmas spices like clove and nutmeg, all within a chewy and rich-tasting smoke.

The name and marketing design are based on the legend of King Arthur. The legend states that King Arthur had a mythical sword named Excalibur. So, the box for the Illusione of Excalibur is royal blue with gold details, and the marketing includes the motto "this cigar is fit for a king".
